Use this chart as a quick guide to the products available when remodeling or replacing shower pans, tub and shower walls and vanity or kitchen countertops. It is not an exhaustive list, and new ideas for countertops such as concrete  and glass are now all the rage.

If you care about the color and grain, pick out the slab yourself. A small sample can be very misleading.

Less expensive, pre-fabbed options are available.

Attractive, natural stone. Every slab is unique.

Durable, highly scratch resistant.

Resists stains with proper sealing.

Bacteria, mold & mildew resistant.

Withstands heat.

May contain fissures, pits and imperfections.

Seams are visible.

Requires periodic sealing to prevent staining.

Difficult to repair if chipped or scratched.

More labor intensive to install than solid surface.

Unsealed grout is prone to staining, mold, and bacteria.

We highly recommend Epoxy Grout (link to FAQs) for a much less porous and easier to maintain grout.

Cheaper tiles chip or crack easily.

Uneven surface harder to wipe down in kitchens.

Natural Stones such as limestone, true marble
